Listed below are descriptions of the Town Council
and other auxiliary boards that make up the government of the Town of Trail
Creek.
If you feel that any of the boards or commissions mentioned would interest
you or could benefit from your input, feel free to call the Town Hall
at 872-2422 for more information on how you can get involved.
Although positions on the auxiliary boards are held until a members
term expires, residents are welcome to make inquiries as to future availability
of a position and to raise issues of concern at the monthly Town Council meeting.

|
The Trail Creek Town Council
is made up of five members, representing each of the five wards. They
exercise both the executive and legislative functions of the town. There
is no limit to the number of terms they may serve. Town elections are
held every four years and all candidates are voted on by all registered
voters within the town.
The Clerk-Treasurer of the Town of Trail Creek, an elected official,
serves as the chief fiscal officer of the town. It is her/his duty to
receive and disburse monies, keep financial accounts, maintain records,
attend all meetings, issue licenses, administer oaths and take depositions.

The Plan Commission consists
of seven members. One is a member of the Park Board and one is a member
of the Town Council. Plan Commission members are appointed by the Town
Council for staggered four year terms. The Plan Commission will develop
and adopt a Master Plan for the town and oversee the administration of
this plan. They also hear and approve or disapprove all petitions for
new or extended development within the Town of Trail Creek. All members
serve without monetary compensation.

The Streets, Roads and Drainage
Advisory Board is composed of five members appointed to four year
terms by the Town Council. Each member of the Advisory Board must reside
in his/her respective ward within the town, of which there are five. The
Advisory Board will advise and assist the Street Commission and Town Council
on all matters concerning streets, roads and drainage, make recommendations
on new job applicants to the Street Department, receive and investigate
all complaints concerning plowing and salting, patching and repair of
streets and aid in preparation of the Street Department budget. All members
serve without monetary compensation.

The Parks and Recreation Board
is composed of four members each appointed to staggered four year
terms by the Town Council. No more than two members may be of the same
political party. The Parks and Recreation Board has custody, control,
operation, management and maintenance of all public parks and playgrounds
within the Town of Trail Creek. One member of the Town Council is appointed
a liaison each year. All members serve without monetary compensation.

The Board of Zoning Appeals is
composed of five members, none of whom shall hold other elected positions.
BZA members are appointed by the Town Council and serve staggered four
year terms. It is the duty of this board to hear and determine appeals
made concerning Ordinances and Codes of the town and authorize exceptions
in such cases. All members serve without monetary compensation.

The Police Department Advisory
Board is composed of three members. Two of those on the board shall
be appointed by the Town Council and the third member shall be chosen
by the Town Marshal. All members serve staggered four year terms. One
member of the Town Council is appointed each year as liaison. The duties
of the Advisory Board are to report to the Town Council on matters concerning
police protection or law enforcement, screen and make recommendations
on new applicants, receive and investigate complaints from residents concerning
members of the Department and make recommendations for disciplinary action,
assist in establishing rules and regulations for the Department, review
activity reports and assist with the preparation of the Police Department
budget.
